A Sunday Summary

A Sunday Summary 2

So… what have I been up to this week…

Well I managed to get my evil assignment out of the way (we had to adapt a short story we’d written into a script for stage, radio or screen). I chose to write a screenplay, and I can tell you, I do not have a future as a screen writer! Painful is the only way I can describe it!

On Thursday I guest posted for my friend Jo – ‘50 things to make me read your blog‘, if you’re looking for a few tips on how to keep your readers interested, you should definitely check it out!

Yesterday I met up with a bunch of lovely creative and crafty bloggers in the centre of Nottingham, it was so much fun! It’s the first time I’ve met up with any bloggers ‘in real life’ and it really wasn’t as scary as I thought it would be!

[I’m practically glow in the dark, I didn’t notice the spotlight above my head!]

We had such a great time talking about all things crafty – I’ll be posting about the day more in-depth later this week, so stay tuned!

I’m still managing to stick to my daily ‘15 Minutes of Mixed Media‘ challenge – if you want to see some of my creations then check out my Instagram feed and if you’d like to play a long, tag me (@dairecharlotte) in your photos and I’ll come and cheer you on!

I’ve got back into the swing of the whimsical reading challenge I’m hosting, after a little time away from it and I’ve also been working on a TOP SECRET project, that I can’t reveal yet, but I promise you’ll be the first to know!

So what have you all been up to this week? Feel free to leave me a link to your posts in the comments below – I’m always looking for new reading material!

A Sunday Summary

A Sunday Summary 2

How have you been enjoying the first week of 2014? It’s been a pretty busy one for me, so I have lots of things to tell you!

  • This year I’m writing a collaborative story with my friends Paola and Tory – the first chapter goes live next week, but right now you can read our introductory ramblings or our three mini-prequels. I hope you’ll follow us along this journey, we’re so, so excited!
  • Today I got an honourable mention from Beth over at Plastic Rosaries in this post (thank you Beth, my follow-up is pending) – I’m honoured to be one of her bloggy discoveries of 2013!
  • I’ve been getting stuck into the fabulous Documented Life project I’ve signed up for – I’m posting all updates for this project on my Facebook page, so if you’d like to see my quirky, one-of-a-kind planner you should hop over and have a look!
  • Although I promised myself I wasn’t going to commit myself to so many reading challenges (I have this crazy idea that reading shouldn’t be so stressful…), but after seeing this one on I Believe in Story, I just couldn’t resist! Last year I really enjoyed dipping my toe into new genres, so I think this might be the one for me.
  • I’ve been sticking to my New Year’s Resolution of doing 15 minutes of mixed media each day – I’ve decided to post photos on my Instagram every day (I’ve even manage to recruit my friend Jo a.k.a. The Dexterous Diva to join in on this arty goodness) – If you’d like to play along, or just see what we come up with, you’ll find my updates here.
  • Last but not least, I’m currently advertising for guest posts – for more information, check out this post.

I hope you have a really great second week of the year… I’ll talk to you soon!

Social Mania

It’s day number 9 of Rosalilium’s Blog Every Day in May Challenge and today the topic is: Social Media. Are you a Twitter-lover? Or maybe you can’t get enough of Pinterest? Do you need to share every meal on Instagram? Do you waste away the hours watching Youtube? Or Facebook is your comfort zone? Tell us about your favourite social media channel and why.

I’d like to start out by saying I’m not a social media obsessive. If I leave my phone at home, I can last the day without breaking down. If I have to spend the week without the internet, I’m fine with it. But there’s no harm in dabbling right?

Twitter: I’m a fairly new Twitter user. I’m finding it kind of addictive, but I’m not sure if we’re the best fit. I always feel like I’m butting into other people’s conversations, so I never really join in any of the chats that go on. Hopefully I’ll soon settle into my little Twitter network and start being sociable. To follow me on Twitter, click here.

Pinterest: I don’t really use Pinterest as a social networking tool, I pretty much use it as a place to store all my arty inspirations. I’m currently in the process of finding a house, so in the coming months you’ll probably see lots of crafty/DIY/decor boards from me. To follow, click here.

Instagram: I’ve only had an Instagram account for about a week, and I can already tell we’re going to be firm friends. No doubt as soon as I get my final assignment out of the way there’ll be lots of ‘art in progress’ shots going up. To follow, click here.

Youtube: I use Youtube quite often, mostly just to listen to music at work. There’s a chance of tutorial videos in my future, but for now it’s on the backburner. My favourite thing about Youtube has to be reading all the insane bitch-fights that go in the comments. Epic.

Facebook: I love Facebook. I love the addictive games it throws at me, and I love using it to keep up with old friends. I’m pretty strict about the people I do and don’t add though, but if you’d like to be FB friends, drop me an email.

So which is my favourite? [Drumroll please…] None of the above. My favourite way to spend time online is blogging. Does it count as social media? Maybe not, but it should. I think it’s so much more ‘sociable’ than some of the other stuff; I love writing on my blog, I love it when people leave me comments, and I love, love, LOVE reading some of the fabulous things other bloggers come up with. Speaking of which, here are some of the fabulous things I’ve stumbled across recently:
