Social Mania

It’s day number 9 of Rosalilium’s Blog Every Day in May Challenge and today the topic is: Social Media. Are you a Twitter-lover? Or maybe you can’t get enough of Pinterest? Do you need to share every meal on Instagram? Do you waste away the hours watching Youtube? Or Facebook is your comfort zone? Tell us about your favourite social media channel and why.

I’d like to start out by saying I’m not a social media obsessive. If I leave my phone at home, I can last the day without breaking down. If I have to spend the week without the internet, I’m fine with it. But there’s no harm in dabbling right?

Twitter: I’m a fairly new Twitter user. I’m finding it kind of addictive, but I’m not sure if we’re the best fit. I always feel like I’m butting into other people’s conversations, so I never really join in any of the chats that go on. Hopefully I’ll soon settle into my little Twitter network and start being sociable. To follow me on Twitter, click here.

Pinterest: I don’t really use Pinterest as a social networking tool, I pretty much use it as a place to store all my arty inspirations. I’m currently in the process of finding a house, so in the coming months you’ll probably see lots of crafty/DIY/decor boards from me. To follow, click here.

Instagram: I’ve only had an Instagram account for about a week, and I can already tell we’re going to be firm friends. No doubt as soon as I get my final assignment out of the way there’ll be lots of ‘art in progress’ shots going up. To follow, click here.

Youtube: I use Youtube quite often, mostly just to listen to music at work. There’s a chance of tutorial videos in my future, but for now it’s on the backburner. My favourite thing about Youtube has to be reading all the insane bitch-fights that go in the comments. Epic.

Facebook: I love Facebook. I love the addictive games it throws at me, and I love using it to keep up with old friends. I’m pretty strict about the people I do and don’t add though, but if you’d like to be FB friends, drop me an email.

So which is my favourite? [Drumroll please…] None of the above. My favourite way to spend time online is blogging. Does it count as social media? Maybe not, but it should. I think it’s so much more ‘sociable’ than some of the other stuff; I love writing on my blog, I love it when people leave me comments, and I love, love, LOVE reading some of the fabulous things other bloggers come up with. Speaking of which, here are some of the fabulous things I’ve stumbled across recently:

Enjoy!
